Erythrite - Morocco

Locality: Bou Azzer Mine, Amerzgane, Ouarzazate Province, Drâa-Tafilalet                          Region, Morocco
Size:  2.8 × 4.5 × 2.4 cm
This is a fantastic miniature featuring brilliant magenta Erythrite crystals fully exposed in a seam of matrix.  The crystals are very large for the species, measuring to about a cm in size, with the best brilliant luster and the unmatched magenta color for which Erythrite is famous.  The crystals completely fill the wide seam as shown, and are well terminated with no damages.  This specimen was acquired from Herst Burkard at the Tucson show in 2002 and has been in my personal competetive exhibit for over 20 years.  This Erythrite stands as an exceptionally fine example of the species from the Bou-Azzer mine, recognized as the producer of the finest Erythrite specimens known.
