#100 / CUPRITE - Russia
Locality: Rubtsovskiy Mine, Rudniy Altai, Altaiskiy Krai, Siberia, Russia
Size: 5.5 x 5.5 x 6.6 cm.
This group of extremely large Cuprite octohedrons sports a huge crystal measuring about 5 cm on edge. The specimen weighs 420 grams, or almost 15 ounces. It is in very good condition and has a good luster as seen. Crystals of this size were rare. This is the largest that I had encountered, and I have seen only a few that were slightly larger. Mined in 2010.
