Catagory :  GALLERY 14 - CALCITE
Locality: Dal'negorsk, Primorskiy Kray, Russia
Size:  6 x 4.5 x 4.5 cm
A very nice Calcite group on a matrix of Galena crystals from this classic locale.
The Calcites are lustrous and in excellent condition.
Mined back in the mid 1990's.
Locality: Potosi Mine, Santa Eulalia Dist., Chihuahua, Mexico
Size:  6 x 8 x 4 cm
A tree like growth of translucent clear to white Calcite crystals.
All are well terminated, which is difficult to see in the pics, and have a
very fine luster.
This is one that I can truly say is better than the pictures.
Locality: Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
Size:  6 x 5 x 5 cm
The satin luster on this Indian Calcite is the result of thousands of tiny faces on the main
faces of the crystals. The large crystal and its accompanying side car crystal are on
some pale green prehnite on basalt matrix. All the cleavage plane lines that you see are
entirely interior and do not comprimise the exterior surface of the crystals.
Good Calcites from the Indian basalts are uncommon and difficult to obtain.
Locality: Leiping, Guiyang, Hunan Prov., China
Size:  5.6 x 4 x 3.8 cm
This specimen features a sharp, lustrous double terminated crystal on a dark matrix.
The Calcites are lightly tinted a red color from hematite.
This is an older specimen acquired in 2000 and probably mined in 1999 or earlier.
Locality: Daye Mine, Hubei Prov., China
Size:  6 x 4 x 4.5 cm
Wonderful lustrous Calcite with reddish Hematite color inside the crystal.
Great crystal faces and sets so nicely on the matrix.
Great addition for the Calcite suite if you haven't added one like this yet.
Locality: Fletcher Mine, Reynolds Co., Missouri
Size:  7 x 4.5 x 3.5 cm
Doubly terminated golden Calcite from the lesser known Fletcher Mine.
A clean cleave on part of the termination at the fat end doesn't show as
displayed and the price has been reduced accordingly.
Locality: Piz Beverin, Thusis, Grissons, Switzerland
Size:  15.5 x 9.5 x 8 cm
A large cabinet Calcite from the Swiss Alps featuring a huge main crystal over 12 cm across.
The Calcite stands up on edge as can be seen in the side view at the lower right.
I have shown views from the front where several nice Quartz crystals to about 6 cm show in the foreground
and from the back showing the nice lustrous Calcite faces dominating the rear of the specimen.
There are a couple of edge nicks on the calcite, but as you can see, they do not detract, considering the size of the crystal.
This is a very large, rare Alpine Calcite.
Locality:Dal'negorsk, Primorskiy Kray, Russia
Size: 10 x 12 x 9 cm
A large cabinet Calcite featuring three distinct forms of Calcite. An opaque white,
thin platy form, on top of which sets a dramatic gemmy complex rhombohedron that
measures 7  cm across. In the back can be seen a complex scalenohedron.
Calcites of this size and quality have been unavailable for many years now.
The large main crystal is very clean and gemmy and very fine.
Locality: Holbrook Mine, Bisbee, Cochise Co., Arizona
Size:  7 x 7 x 3 cm
An old time Calcite from Bisbee.  Crystalized front, back, and sides !
No damages.
Locality: Sweetwater Mine, Reynolds Co., Missouri
Size:  13 x 9 x 7.5 cm
A large aesthetic cabinet Calcite group from this well known mine.
A couple cleaves which detract little from this impressive cluster.

Locality: Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
Size:  5.5 x 6.5 x 3.5 cm
From a recent find of these 6 sided disc shaped Calcite cr4ystals on limonite matrix.
The crystals are quite lusterous and translucent.
Locality: Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico
Size:  8 x 7.5 x 4 cm
A fine, gemmy Calcite group on matrix with glassy, undamaged crystals to 4 cm.
Choice specimen from around the 1970's from an old collection.
Locality:  Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith Co., Tennessee
Size:  10 x 7 x 6 cm
A very neat group of gemmy double terminated Calcite crystals from the Elmwood mine.
Very high 'wet look' luster and pristine condition. Very choice.
Locality: Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico
Size: 5 x 7 x 3 cm
An old Mexican Calcite from the 1970's. Great large rhombohedrons in an
aesthetic grouping on Limonite matrix.
Locality: Pachapaqui, Bolognesi Prov., Ancash Dept., Peru
Size:  6 x 4.5 x 3 cm
Pink Manganocalcite crystals with clear Quartz crystals. Simply stunning aesthetics.
Early 1990's specimen , Ex Bill Longacre collection.
Locality: Verchniy Mine, Dal'negorsk, Primorskiy Kray, Russia
Size:  12 x 8 x 7 cm
A spectacular Calcite group from the classic Russian locale for these brilliant gemmy crystals.
Rarely seen anymore, especially in this size and quality, these rank as some of the best and most sought
after Calcites. This is a large group of clean, undamaged, doubly terminated scalenohedral crystals with the
highest glassy luster. Very minor cleaves on a few edgecrystals which has no impact on the display as you
can see by the pics.  The specimen self stands as seen in the photos, for an outstanding aesthetic display.
